Its Super Bowl time here in Tampa Bay and the excitement is palpable with our own Buccaneers playing the first ever Super Bowl home game at Raymond James Stadium! With Tom Brady at the helm, the Bucs have an excellent chance against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs this year to bring yet another championship home to Tampa Bay! Just to recap, the Lightning already won the Stanley Cup and the Rays made it all the way to the World Series, so a win by the Bucs would be pretty momentous my sandy people.
In honor of the Big Game this weekend, we here at Sand Surf Co wanted to share some of our local knowledge with the incoming football fans to enhance their trip to the Bay area and make sure they have the proper gear to blend in with the locals. Nothing worse than socks and sandals in paradise; amiright? So here it goes, our top five things to do in Tampa, other than watch TB12 and the Bucs take down the Chiefs!
1) Pre-game Tacos and Margarita’s! Ciccio’s Group is a restaurant juggernaut in South Tampa and one of our favorite stops is Green Lemon, located just up the street from us on S Howard Ave. With some of the best margs in the Bay and their phenomenal queso, you can’t go wrong.
2) Soaking up some rays down at Davis Island Beach, this sandy shore is a great place to enjoy beautiful vistas of Tampa Bay and get your daily dose of Vitamin D. For all our dog lovers out there, there’s even a dog beach to let the pup go swim! So come one, come all and enjoy our little slice of paradise.
3) Explore Downtown Tampa with SBX –Tampa has been upping their downtown waterside game over the past 5 years and today, the Tampa Riverwalk is one of the most popular destinations to get out and about in downtown. With restaurants and bars all along its 2.6 mile span its one of the best ways to see and be seen in Tampa. Now-a-days the Super Bowl Experience highlighting the NFL has set up shop along the Riverwalk at Curtis Hixon Park. So be sure to check out the festivities on that side and while you are downtown, you can also enjoy the University of Tampa’s campus, where Rikki and Remy went to college!
4) Game day Brunch at Luv Child Tampa, one of go to spots for a brunch to set off your day! Again, showing much love to the Ciccio’s Group, Luv Child is one of their more recent offerings and it lives up to what we have come to expect. You will love the Cuban and Latino vibe with everything you need from delicious espresso to delicious sangria! Be sure to get the Tampa vibe right before heading out to cheer on the Bucs.
5) Visit Sand Surf Co! Come visit us at the shop on 1413 S. Howard to procure all your Sunny Day needs! From the latest styles of swim for Men and Women to the best beach accoutrements! (That’s a fancy French word for accessories). We have the best sun protection out there to protect you from the rays to make sure your Tampa experience stays on point. Check out some of our latest fashion must haves!
